Product description
When Napoleon Bonaparte captured Egypt in 1798, he was accompanied by more than 160 scientists and naturalists. Members of this group of scientists, known as the French Commission for the Study of the Sciences and Arts of Egypt, engaged in conducting a comprehensive study of the country´s archeology, topography and natural science. In 1802, by Napoleon’s decree, the findings made by the scientists of this commission were published in a monumental, multi-volume work, equipped with a detailed alphabetical index. In the work were collected prints, maps, scientific essays. The publication of the first imperial edition began in 1809. We are starting the publication of this "Royal Edition" (1821-1829) from the collections of the Alexandrian Library. In the near future, the library of Protohistory contains the book 1 "Description de l Egipte" (111 plates)
